There probably won’t be a Ferrari that comes close to the legendary 1963 Ferrari GTO that sold for a world-wide auction record $52,000,000 USD in October 2013. But this Ferrari at the RM Sotheby’s auction gave it a run for its money.
Bloomberg Business has just confirmed this 1956 Ferrari 290 MM sold at auction for a staggering $28,000,000 USD. There’re only four examples that were made back in 1956, making this one of the rarest Ferrari’s on the planet.
The longitudinally mounted 3.5-liter V12 engine and 320 hp at 7,200 rpm is fast, even for 2015 sports car standards. Having said that, with the way Ferrari’s appreciate in age – especially those that go for almost $30 million – the new owner will likely keep the investment in his garage rather than the track.
