Audi has yet to debut high-performance RS versions of its B9 A4 Avant and A5 Coupe and Sportback, however the specifications for the new line of sport compact cars has leaked online thanks to a Motor 1 reader.
In a dealer image Motor 1 wasn’t able to publish, new RS4 and RS5 Coupe and Sportback;s engine was revealed to be Volkswagen Group’s 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine. The six-cylinder mill produces 440 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque in the Porsche Panamera 4S, but will produce a rumored 450 horsepower and 446 lb-ft in the new line of hot Audis.
The engine will enable the RS4 and RS5 to sprint from 0-62 mph in less than four seconds. The top speed will sit at an electronically limited 155 mph, however an optional performance package will remove the limiter and allow the car to stretch its legs to 174 mph.
The same dealer image that revealed the RS4 and RS5’s specifications also divulged its production schedule. The RS5 is set to begin rolling off the assembly line this June, while the RS4 Avant will enter production in December. The RS5 Sportback’s arrival is not yet known, however it will arrive after the other two vehicles, likely sometime in 2018.
