Formula 1 champion and current season points leader Lewis Hamilton is one of the first individuals on the planet to take delivery of a 2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600, which makes complete sense when you consider that his current employer is the Mercedes-AMG F1 team.
As if to make things copacetic with his bosses, this comes just a few days after Hamilton’s custom red-on-red LaFerrari from rival manufacturer Ferrari was reportedly delivered near his home in Los Angeles.
The 2016 Maybach S600 marks the end of a period of dormancy for the Mercedes sub-brand, and though it might be less outwardly shouty than the previous Maybach, it’s even more cossetting and luxurious under its mono-tone sheet metal.
Even though Lewis us arguably the actual best driver in the world, the Maybach S600 is a car for being driven in rather than driving. At 18 feet, it’s about 8 inches longer than the regular S-Class to accommodate a pair plush leather recliners that incorporate an optional hot-stone massage function.
The interior also gets a selection of custom fragrances, seven different interior lighting color options, 3D surround sound system, optional sterling silver champagne flutes and high-end leather on just about every surface you can see and touch. Despite the 523-hp, twin-turbo V12 under the hood, Mercedes says it’s the quietest cabin in its segment.
We’re especially liking Lewis’s color selection of white with chrome wheels.
