Sure, the Porsche 911 Turbo is pretty quick, we suppose. It does have 540 hp and 486 lb-ft of torque, after all. But in a world where that power figure is eclipsed by economical four-door sedans, and the torque figure is absolutely destroyed by a pickup truck, some buyers might be feeling a little, well, unendowed in the stables. If that’s the case, then Porsche tuner Gemballa might have what you need.
The current Gemballa has been building some epic Porsches since 2010, purchasing the rights to a company that was started in 1981. Big power and big bodywork is the name of the game here.
Their latest is the GTR 8XX Evo-R Biturbo. It takes the standard 911 and turns things up. Way up. 818 hp and 810 lb-ft of torque. The company says it can hit 62 mph from a standstill before you can even say its name. We checked. It’ll do it in 2.38 seconds, to be more precise, and hit 124 in just 7.5. For the record, it took us 3.2 seconds to say the name. Now that’s quick.
Letting everyone know you’re driving something special, even when you aren’t doing 230 mph, there are significant visual changes too. A new front lip, side sills, engine cover, wing, and diffuser. All made from carbon fiber. Then there are the fender flares that push the car out 1.2 inches in the front and 2.0 out back.
This is one car that will never be mistaken for a stock 911. And if you’re driving one, you probably never want to be.
