The Ferrari LaFerrari Spider has been confirmed by the Italian automaker’s new CEO, Sergio Marchionne.
The convertible version of the LaFerrari has been rumored since the coupe’s debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, and rumor has it that it was shown earlier this year at a private event for prospective buyers. Now, in a recent interview with Automobile, Marchionne confirmed the LaFerrari Spider’s existence: “And by the way, the only future product connected to LaFerrari is the Spider,” he said. “Which is no secret since potential customers have already been approached.”
His statement confirms previous reports that the LaFerrari Spider was shown at a private event.
Marchionne’s remark was an answer to Automobile‘s question regarding a Dino V6 and LaFerrarina model, a less extreme version of the LaFerrari. For now, it doesn’t seem like the Italian automaker has plans on making a baby LaFerrari model. As for the Dino, Marchionne suggested that the company still has questions on its positioning, price and how it will relate to the next 488.
There’s a chance the LaFerrari Spider could make its public debut sometime this year, but it’s likely that the company will keep it under wraps until 2017.[Source: AutoGuide.com]
