Aston Martin Continues to Shack Up With RedBull Racing

Aston Martin has announced customer deliveries of its AM-RB 001 hypercar will commence in early 2019, with all 150 examples having already been spoken for.

Additionally, the British luxury car maker said it will extend its innovation partnership with Red Bull Racing through the 2017 season. The two companies signed a contract extension at the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix last month.

The AM-RB 001 hypercar is being developed in part with Red Bull Racing chief technical officer Adrian Newey. According to Aston Martin, the “groundbreaking,” hypercar will blend cutting edge F1 technology with the automaker’s signature sports car design. A road car production run of 150 cars is planned, with another 25 planned for track-only purposes.

The extension of Aston’s innovation partnership with Red Bull Racing will see the automaker’s signature wing logo fly on the team’s Formula 1 cars for another season. The two companies first joined forces at the start of the 2016 F1 season and enjoyed a successful campaign that saw Red Bull Racing finish second in the constructors’ championship.

“Our relationship with Red Bull Racing has done for Aston Martin exactly what we expected it to do,”Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer said in a statement. “Partnerships like this are good for business both in terms of technical innovation and brand awareness, so we are delighted to continue into 2017.”
