This is how I installed the carbon fiber mirror covers with an easy removal method added... just in case.

Tools:
Silicon sealant - should hold plenty hard enough considering the wind should always be pushing it against the mirror.
Fishing line - I used 20lb test.
Painters tape.
Tweezers.
Detail spray - to clean before and make pretty after.

Step 1 - Clean the back of the mirrors.
Step 2 - Tape off the black plastic areas you do not want silicon sealant on - this took the longest amount of time but I feel is very important to make the install look as good as possible.

Step 3 - TEST FIT the covers
Step 4 - Prepare the covers by taping in the fishing line.

Step 5 - TEST FIT the covers again with the fishing line added.
Step 6 - Apply a thin but complete line of sealant on the outside of the fishing line attaching it to the cover. The part that made this easy was taking very small strips of painters tape to hold the line in place and when applying the sealant I ran a bead from one piece of tape to the next. Once there holding the non glued side of the line and removing the piece of tape and continuing the bead to the next piece of tape and repeating. When down to two pieces of tape remove both while holding the last small section of line that isn't glued. Then finish covering the last part of the fishing line.

Key note - the final piece of painters tape left is holding down the loop of the fishing line that leaves a very small piece sticking out (roughly 1/3"). This is the part that will allow for removal later if I so desire - just grab it with a hemostat (or pliers if you prefer) and slowly use the line to break the sealant.

Step 7 - Slide the cover in place and tape it down where it goes making sure to look for areas of paint that might be visible.

I do not have final pictures yet as I am letting it cure overnight before I remove the painters tape.

I am very happy with the covers - both in quality and ease of instillation. Total time was about an hour and a half because I am anal when it comes to taping off and I played with the fishing line a few times before settling on the ring shown above.

Let me know what you think.

Now we're talking. I was going to comment about the wrap vs carbon weave pattern. Looks MUCH better I dig it! Add some carbon to the wing!
