It is very quiet in here. Anyone making some 2014 F1 Predictions?
Do you think Vettel can achieve 5 in a row?
Will Alonso and Kimi get along?
Will Riccardo be able to keep pace with Vettel?

Not nearly as exciting this week, as last. A little pissed at Vettel though, and I have been a fan. Riccardo might have been able to take a shot at Alonso had Vettel followed his teams orders and moved over when they told him. He was catching Alonso at 1 second (ish) a lap, and the extra 2 laps Vettel held him up kept Alonso just out of reach. Christian Horner claims otherwise, but it sure didn't help Riccardo. I found it very interesting that at one point the commentators mentioned that Red Bull, had actually taken a upgrade direction that fit Vettel's driving style, and that it hurt Mark Weber. Hadn't thought that deeply into the team, and building dynamics, but wow. The conversations about Kimi were interesting to. Will Buxton was talking about how Kimi drives into the corners differently than others, "almost drifting it in". They were talking about the rear brake by wire system. I wonder how much that actually plays into the performance as a correlation to the drivers flexibility? Is Alonso demolishing Kimi because Alonso is simply more adaptable and can adjust his style of driving to fit the car? Is the same true for Riccardo? Has he simply adjusted to he new car better? I would think at this level, they all would be able to adapt, but maybe the level is so high, it is challenging for them.

In addition to that, I want to see Williams on the podium, and Force India's Hulkenberg on the top step!

Anyone else feel a little sorry for Maldonado?

I dont' know what Maldonado is doing but Lotus can't catch a break!
Those Mercedes AMG sure has the brute force when it comes to straight line. Can't wait to see what surprises await at Spain.

Would loved to see Rosberg take it to Hamilton at the end of the race yesterday.
Pretty sure we know who will be World Drivers Champion this year!

Will be interesting to see how the rest of the field shakes out. What happened to Force India in Spain? They picked up some big sponsors, and had a very lackluster showing! Are they already falling behind the in season progression? Ferrari is making a nice comeback, although I am not a fan.

Interesting weekend with Nicco's shenanigans in qualifying and Hamilton's frustrations. The one thing that stood out in the race broadcast was how much better the Mercedes safety car sounds compared to the race cars.

I don't know whether Rosberg purposely went off track purposely to claim the pole position or his telemetry is just off. Risky move for sure. I wanted Ricciardo to take 2nd, just to piss of Hamilton.
Speaking of the broadcast, too much commentary that you won't be able to hear the cars.

Exciting stuff from Monaco last weekend for sure!

I admit that I am a Hamilton nut-hugger, but I personally feel as though Nico flubbed qualifying on purpose. Call it a conspiracy theory, but I have to believe he knew the best chance of taking gold was if he could ensure that he would lead every lap of the race from the first turn. I think he also knew that given the chance Hamilton would out pace him in Q3. So I believe that he did what was necessary to prevent Hamilton from out performing him yet again. Not one driver had as dramatic a problem with that turn throughout all of the qualifying rounds and even during the entire race itself. Yes, I know that the drivers are only human, but it still raises an eyebrow that Nico had a problem with it at the one time it made the biggest difference in his favor. These are the best drivers in the world, this is the track that he is probably most familiar with, and you're telling me that he went that far over the limit on accident into the turn? I don't know... Nevertheless, it's still impressive as hell that Nico is now back-to-back in Monaco. Without question it's another notch in his belt of F1 success.

As much as a lot of people hate Vettel I hate seeing him struggle as much as he is this season. It so disappointing that he isn't able to fully show his incredible talent. With that being said I think his teammate finished the race very well. Yes, Lewis was letting up, but that wasn't the only factor in getting him on Lewis's gearbox for the last handful of laps. Dan drove the hell out of his car all day.

I think Red Bull's best chance (Dan specifically since nothing seems to be going well for Seb this year) to sit at the top of a podium was in Monaco. The track is technical enough to take the sheer speed out of Mercedes (as we saw in the closing laps), but just as fast as the sheer speed steps out the chassis steps in. Mercedes has a dangerous combination with their cars this year. They did their homework with all of the changes for this season and they did it well. Pepper in some luck along with the amazing talent and it equals a very tough team to get around. We all know Red Bull is going to continue to push, but failing any drastic improvements I think their only other chance to sit at the top of the podium will be in Singapore.

Apparently Lewis and Nico have talked and they are buds again.....at least until Canada! I don't see anyone being able to match them on the summer races as they are mostly high power tracks. That being said, the Mercedes engine did have a massive kaboom at Monaco, so they are not bulletproof.

I think it's gonna be a very active qualifying, I think Monaco sparks teams up for the rest of the season.

Just my $.02:

Kimi wants definitely wants to finish better than his recent performances.
Hulkenberg wants to continue proving he's good enough as the best of them.
Alonso is still cursing the speed of his Ferrari can't keep up with the Silver Arrows.
Grosjean, I believe just wants to continue the progress he made last season. I hope to see him take the Lotus higher into the points.
Button has seemed to be just cruising through the season mid-pack, not really sure what's going on with the McL-M's...
Kobayashi, Maldonado and Perez will continue taking turns crashing themselves and taking someone with them.
Sutil, I personally have a bit of faith in his talent, I think he has the makings of a really good driver. I hope he scores FI some more points.
Vettel keeps asking his engineers, "WTF,guys?!"
I really think Ricciardo will have a great race, he'll probably podium again.

I too think the Mercs will be top two steps on the podium. I also think Daniel Ricciardo will out-qualify and score higher than Vettel because he seems more comfortable in the car and has adapted better then Seb. So third DR, fourth for Fernando because the Ferrari is just that, a fourth place car. Bottas has definitely shown better pace than Felipe, but FM has been caught out too many times in the wrong place at the wrong time and some questionable teamwork in the pits. The rest of the top ten is really a crap shoot due the high power demands of the circuit.

Oh my god, what a race! Bravo Daniel!!!!! Good to see Perez and Massa climb out of the cars after the shunt. No perfect season for the Mercs.

Massa, what can you say! Don't know if I should be happy no one got hurt, or to be sad he fumbled again. I think he's just losing his quality with every race. Caught upto Vettel today in a faster car and made a few mistakes trying too hard to pass. MAYBE if he was a bit calmer, he could have got the job done.

As for Hamilton, last race he was complaining over 2nd place, what's he going to say today?

Overall, a good race. But yet another disappointing one for a Ferrari fan. The guys back at base really need to pull their finger out and get some work done. Two quality drivers having their talent and career just getting wasted year after year.

F1 is getting boring again, so far there has only been one really exciting race. Todays race I actually switched it off, I am just getting bored: safety car, crashes just takes out all the fun out of the sport.

What an awesome race! I don't think I have been that excited in at least 2 seasons!
I was really pulling for Perez to make a little magic and get the maiden win for Force India. Would love to see a Williams on the top step as well, but it wasn't the day for that I guess.
Congrats to Riccardo. Just takes me back to the DQ in Australia, of what would the points look like now if he kept those points. Very happy to see a new winner, and Riccardo seems like the kind of guy who truly enjoys what he does.
Massa, what were you thinking?
