Default The BLT seized by customs in China!

So apparently the BLT has been seized upon entering China because the owner has not payed the import tax for the car. According to the article he Chinese media is reporting that the BLT is going to cost the owner 4.7 million USD including taxes.

Taxes double the worth of the car seem hardly worth driving an exotic there...

    News to me...

It appears that the Koenigsegg Agera R BLT has been seized entering China at Zhanjiang in Guangdong Province. It’s thought that Chinese officials seized the custom Koenigsegg as part of a crack down on smuggling. The owner of the car, an anonymous Chinese businessman, allegedly didn’t declare the vehicle and failed to pay income tax.

One Chinese article appears to suggest that the car was shipped to Vietnam first and then forwarded on to China to evade taxation. Followers of our Facebook page would have seen pictures of the car parked in a Vietnamese town. We are told that it covered 800km during its stay and it was eventually seized alongside a Rolls-Royce Phantom Year of the Dragon.

For those that are curious, the name BLT does not refer to the sandwich. BLT has a different meaning in Chinese. The name was chosen as it represents the pinnacle of the Koenigsegg customization program and shows how truely bespoke a Koenigsegg can become. It features a unique blend of blue and grey carbon fibre with red highlights and a number of special options, specified by the customer.

The Agera R features Koenigsegg’s in-house developed 5.0-litre twin-turbo-charged V8 engine which produces 960hp with 93 octane fuel and 1140hp with E85. For the 2013 model Koenigsegg made eight changes to ensure that the package remains an attractive proposition for hypercar buyers. Hopefully the owner will eventually pay the customs bill on the $5 million car.
