Default Looking for a new laptop

So i'm looking around for a replacement laptop, I don't need anything too crazy just decent performance and modestly fast. My laptop know really only gets used for word, excel, watching some dvd's and the interwebz, so I don't need a lot. A few things I would like is something in the 13inch size range, optical drive, light, good sound, back lit keyboard, and decent battery life and that's it. I've tried looking on line but can't find anything I really like so please help... Also I'd like to stay under 1000

    Thanks guys

The MacBook Pro does suit your needs perfectly by the sounds of it!

    +1.

13 inch is $200 over your budget but well worth it.

I'd get one of those touchscreen laptops. For your budget, you could probably get a 17" with an i5. Macs are for senior citizens.

Web pages work fine with mac, it was the iphone that was having issues with flash videos. I also recommend a macbook pro, Ive had this one for ~3.5 years now still going strong, still get over 5 hours out of the battery, great screen and a nice backlit keyboard. They are a little bit more expensive than a comparable pc but the gap is nowhere near what it used to be and they are solid little machines.

MacBook Pro. It'll last forever and not get slow like a PC after a year.
