Apparently it is. When I get home I will see if there is any way to photograph my wife's favorite knife. The angle looks more like a skateboard ramp now. lol.

I just bought some knives and after much searching settled with the Wusthof classic. I have big hands and none of the japanese ones felt right. The Calphalon Katana that the OP is looking at felt good, but they're made in China so that put me off. Also, the Wusthof (and Henckel Pro S) have a nice thick bolster at the edge/end of the blade. The Japanese ones (Global/Shun etc...) don't so they were uncomfortable since the blade was digging into my finger. Prices were all pretty comparable. I'm in Canada and have limited resources (online shopping) so I got mine at Bed Bath and Beyond. Go to the site, sign up for their emails and they send you a 20% off coupon. Giddeup.

Its Shun or bust for me.

Oh and have your knives sharpened by a pro monthly/quarterly. It is worth the money.

Shun Ken Onion FTW! (well, my wife is the only one that uses them, but she tells me they're great)

I highly suggest Global Chef Knives. I have been cooking professionally for 10 years now and have used almost every knife out there. Globals stay sharp, are balanced evenly, and look awesome!
