Are hookahs and shishas the same thing?

I Enjoyed a apple shisha last night, and a grape one tonight on the beach of Dubai

Shisha is the flavored tobacco and hookah is what you smoke it out of.

Ive made a fruit hookah made of all different fruits except the center is a cucumber.

You carve out a watermelon and use that as a bowl. Cucumber as the center piece and you can either use an apple or a pineapple to use as the head shisha in it. I will post a DIY of pix when I get around to doing it again, its amazing though.

Actually no. That is a very common misconception however. Hookah is the americanized term for what is traditionally known as a shisha, or narghile. All three are correct terms for the pipe itself. As for the tobacco, its a bit more complicated. Shisha is an incorrect term. The correct term would be shisha tobacco as its the tobacco smoked from a shisha. The most common shisha tobacco is called moassel. Theres other types such a jurak which is a finer cut and is tobacco mixed with natural spices and goes through a long curing process. Tumbak is just bare, dry tobacco that is prepared and smoked with no foil.

I have to try it with a fruit bowl. I've seen guys use pineapples, apples, and grapefruits. I want to get my hands on a clear hookah. I can't wait for the warm weather to come and bust out my other hookah. Any combination's of flavors do you guys recommend that hit the spot? I know someone who got his hands on peanut butter and jelly shisha
