I'd shoot for Makers Mark 46 if you want to stay in budget.

A nice single malt that is newbie friendly...i.e. not so peaty that it'll make all your body hair fall off...

I'd start with some Glenmorangie Nectar D'or...its not too pricey ($70-$80) and a great single malt to start folks who have never drank scotch along for the ride.

    Glenmorangie | Glenmorangie Nectar D'Or
    Lineup:
    16 R36 GT-R (on waiting list)
    13 ML350
    12 Switzer Goliath+ (1600+whp)
    11 Suburban redux
    08 997tt Cab-Future Switzer 9 sec build
    06 SL65-Prior Design widebody build
    97 993tt redux
95 MB Baby Hammer (E320 wide body)
    97 993 Speedster build
89 R32 Skyline Midnight Purple build

I thought for sure you were going to say Dos Equis. Your first sentence sounded just like the commercials. Or at least that's how I read it with his voice. LOL

Ferrari458Italia, since you are just getting into drinking with cigars and you seem interested in Scotch I would recommend trying things at a bar first and seeing what you like as Coltrane stated below. My favorite is Scotch with cigars but I do like a good glass of wine or bourbon. Hell even certain sodas taste great with a cigar.

Scotch is an acquired taste so it may take a few outings to the bar or tasting of few brands to really start enjoying Scotch. I was actually introduced to Scotch while at a Cigar Shop by the owner. He poured me a glass of Green Label and added a bit of water. Tasted great and I have been hooked ever since.

Good luck and be safe on your 21st!

Turned 21 yesterday and bought myself two bottles. I absolutely love that JW!!! It is no doubt one of the best liquors I've ever had!!!
Ciroc on the other hand? I don't know I'm just not big into Vodka.

Deff give Macallan 12 a try with your next cigar! It was the first single malt I ever had and i don't think ill venture away from it, maybe an older Macallan but deff sticking with the brand! I get it for $46.99 at my local wholesale club liq store.

As much as everyone swears by scotch, after my last trip to honduras I have been taking my cigars with aged dark rums. Flor de cana 8 is damn good if you can find it. Also a big fan of Pussers Navy Rum and Mount Gay for your price range. Cruzan Single barrel is another favorite.

Your 21st is well past by now, but if you're still looking for a good pairing in that price range, check out Ardbeg 10 year. (can be found at http://www.bevmo.com/Shop/ProductDet...roductID=11009) It's one of my favorites with with dark, rich cigars.

I was just going to suggest a rum, The Head go there before me.

JW isn't a single malt don't forget, it's mixed single malts. Not really a problem if you like the taste!

Why not get yourself some 500ml bottles of single malt, rum, a.n.other and brew yourself some decent coffee...then try them all!
