Wald Black Bison Mercedes SL
This is the first U.S. built Wald Black Bison Mercedes SL
Only eight weeks before the 2011-2012 SEMA Show in Las Vegas one of our best customers asked for the impossible! Take his 2003 SL55 and transform into the first U.S. Wald wide body Black Bison. If that was not enough of a challenge he also wanted new Forgiato 2.0 wheels, a full audiophile sound system, radar system and much more! All to be completed and displayed in Las Vegas at the SEMA show in 8 weeks! We took on this challenge and here is what we did…
Since the SL55 we were working with was a 2003 model we first needed to update its appearance to a 2009 + model. This was necessary so that the Wald kit work install properly. We purchased from the local Mercedes dealer a new hood, main grille, side mirrors, headlights, headlight modules, side fender vents and tail lights. After all that was painted, installed and programmed we added the new Wald front bumper, LED DRL lights, wide body fenders, side skirts, rear wide arches, rear bumper, rear deffuser and exhaust tips.
Wheels, Tires & Appearance:
Whenever you do a body kit on a car you must change the factory wheels and tires. We collaborated with our friends at Forgiato wheels and outfit this car with their new 20″ F2.03 style wheels that they were also going to unveil at SEMA. The wheels were finished with a combination of gunmetal brushed outer and gloss machined center. Floating “F” center caps were a must! Pirelli tires were used. The next obvious step was to lower the car to give it that perfect stance.
In order to get even more performance out of the the AMG engine we had Renntech reprogram the main ECU and we installed a custom exhaust system.
The factory Bose system just was not good enough for this customer so we completely removed it. First we replaced the factory radio with the top of the line Kenwood eXcelon DNX radio. This gave him the finest in radio,SAT radio,iPod,navigation and back up camera. All touch screen. Next we replaced the front speakers with the world’s most expensive and best sounding Focal Utopia Kit No.7 speakers. These speakers are amazing! The tweeters are made from Beryllium. For bass we fabricated a custom enclosure behind the seats for 2 Kenwood eXcelon carbon fiber 10″ woofers. Behind the enclosure we installed the Focal Crossblock. Hidden in the trunk are 2 Alpine PDX Series digital amplifiers totaling over 1,800 watts of power.
To assist the owner from getting speeding tickets we installed the Escort 9500CI “Ticket Avoidance System”.
I am proud to report that we made our deadline a day early.

i dont like the wood at all, doesn't go well with the silver and black, if it was a all white or all black it would be 10x better.Colorado offers more than most know

I like the front bumper. That's about it... there's too much excess stuff on the rest of the car IMO.

Nice work but I dont like the rims, the wood, the seats, the old steering wheel, the large sub behind the seats (you could do a better install).
I wouldnt drive it/own it but I can see how much work you`ve done.

i dont mind the car but there's to much going on the rear bumpers nice and the front, the sides are terrible and the badging is not so nice either, the interior work with the woods average (not to my taste) if I were doing it id change the wood to carbon fibre, the stereo install i get the whole "look factory set-up" but it looks YUK.
just my opinion.... I give it 6/10.... ALTHOUGH IF YOU SHARED PHOTOS OF THE BUILD PROCESS ID PROBABLY HAVE MORE RESPECT FOR IT....Don't compare your dreams to others, live the life you want to,
it doesn't matter how much you earn or your social status, as-long as your happy doing what you do, and it's honest, live the way YOU want to

I like the car but as mentioned, not a big fan of the wood interior!
