With restrictive privacy agreements and the ocean at their disposal, super yachts (or even gigayachts, if they are particularly large) are notoriously difficult to spot in their natural element. Recently, ADMShipyards’ 463-foot gigayacht Yas was spotted at Cap Ferrat along the French Riviera and it is an absolute stunner.
This enormous superstructure was launched in 2011 and is known to be the eighth largest yacht in the world. It is a repurposed United Arab Emirates navy frigate and was designed by Pierrejean Design Studio. It features a 49-foot beam, two 10,500 hp MTU diesel engines (which allow for a cruising speed of 20 knots and a top speed of 26 knots), dual bow thrusters and another in the stern for easier control.Inside, this monstrous yacht was designed with an abundance of glass, can accommodate a total of 60 guests and comes with practically standard features aboard luxury yachts such a large swimming pool, hot tub and helipad. This gargantuan gigayacht is said to be owned by Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. However it belongs to, we’re sure they’re having one hell of a party in there.
