Official details of the much awaited Aventador LP700-4, replacement for the Murcielago, have been released alongside images of the car. Youíve probably already seen the leaked shots by now, but Lamborghini have just made the release of the car official at the annual VAG pre-Geneva press conference.

The design retains the traditional vertical door mechanism too. The resemblance to the ReventÚn and the Estoque is also noticeable, taking design cues from fighter jets once more. The Aventador Lamborghini LP700-4 measures 4.78 meters long, 2.26 wide (including mirrors) and stands 1.14 meters tall.

oh and the official link from Automobili Lamborghini Holding Spa (http://www.lamborghini.com). I know ghost doesnt really like it, i dont blame him. It's old technology wrapped in a new skin, but the car does look great. I agree that if they (Lamborghini) does not step their game up, they'll quickly get lost in the dust of ferrari etc. the future will tell, but i'd still take an Aventador lol

I konw this is stupid, and nothing I will ever have to worry about, but the motor not centered under the cross brace would drive me nuts. I would never want to show the engine off.

This bothers me. Whats with the placement of this 1990's CD player? Also these seats look so dull compared to the 458

Damn, can't believe I never noticed. Well now I have a reason to not buy the Murci.

This is a blatantly ridiculous statement. Its totally new from end to end and is constructed in ways no supercar has been before it. Also the Gallardos engine appears slightly off center also but there is no cross brace to eyeball it against.

It's off center so that there is room for the drive shaft and transmission components to get past the massive engine and to the front differential.

You are absolutely crazy if you think this is "old technology" wrapped in new skin. Did you go see the car in person? Have you driven it? Have you read about the new components that Lamborghini invested millions of dollars in so that they were not "left in the dust"? If anything, Lamborghini has actually raised the bar quite high in using technology that some manufacturers are still not using. Independent shift rod gearbox (lighter than twin clutch, yet shifts just as quickly), carbon fiber monocoque (lighter and more ridged than an aluminum & steel chassis), push rod suspension (used by every Formula 1 & race team to date), 700 HP from a newly designed naturally aspirated aluminum block V12, etc.

I have seen the car in person and cannot wait to rip it around the track in a few short months! The Aventador is absolutely fantastic in every way and I am sure you will hear that from the many L4P members as they start taking delivery of their V12 monsters later this year!

What would you suggest that they do differently to "step their game up"? Just curious.

Maybe the Ferrari tactics related by that journalist in that Jalopnik article? :-) That seems to allow for a 20% over retail markup and for everyone to think they are more elite somehow. (btw - I am not a Ferrari hater either, I think they make beautiful cars and would/will probably own one eventually)

Just because he has a different opinion than you do does not make him "absolutely crazy". He has a valid point. All of those things that you mention have been around for some time now. Just because they are all-new to Lambo does not necessarily mean they are anything new or revolutionary to the rest of the automotive world. I'm not saying that's a bad thing at all, it's a great thing that they are making their flagship more advanced. It probably sounds and drives great.

And wow, a Lambo salesman thinks the car is "absolutely fantastic in every way". Complete shocker.

Look, i'm not ripping on Lamborghini, they make some of the most beautiful cars in the world. But, like Ghost said, a lot of the technology that is in the Aventador is not new to the CAR WORLD, but new to a Lamborghini. At no point did i say that the car was not good or anything like that. It's a Lamborghini, how can it not be a good car? What I was referring to when i said step their game up was that even though the tech is new for the LP-700, other cars have used it. Stepping their game up would be by creating something that would revolutionize the industry.

I'm sure the car sounds and drives great and will be a giant step up from the 640 which was a great car too, and yes, I drove that one.

There are a lot of people on this board that have varying opinions from yours, that does not make them crazy. There was no need to get so defensive over it.

Lot of hating on this car but I think the car will speak for itself in terms of sales, and once it gets to the streets/tracks. This thing is going to be wicked fast, and while everyone is hating on their technology, while it isn't "new" it is the first time a lot of this is being used together. Also, say what you will about the tech but it looks like it is better than pretty much anything else on the market. To each his own, just upsets me there is so much hating on Lamborghini, I think they really went to extremes in terms of design, engineering and technology. The ONLY thing I don't like are the seats, they look a bit cheap.

The salesman is just hyping his product.....the truth is, the car doesn't look that radically different - which is what most were expecting...The 458 was a radically different looking car to the 430 and many thought lambo would be doing something similar....

Murcielago was/is more expensive than an F430 too, this isn't the gallardo replacement. This one should be compared to the 599.

Is it just me or does the back end just not fit? It doesn't look Lambo-ish to me. It doesn't seem as flashy and in your face as a Lambo should.

It's a shame the camera flattens out the rear end when you look at it straight on. From any angle the whole rear end is angles, but from straight on it's a wall. It won't look like that in person, it's the way photography flattens things out.
