just ask around you should be able to find a tailors that will make you a suit and shirts from scratch although it is expensive for a good person

For example, I use a 3rd generation Italian tailor in Philly (he does a majority of Philly athletes and prime businessmen), my suits (which are the basic fabrics cost $800 (and add $200 for a vest) shirts are $90-$200 minimum of 5 or 6.

It can get pricey but there is nothing that fits like it, I get compliments on my suits every time I wear them. It's not easy finding good fitting clothes when you are 6'6 and built like a light-pole...IMHO it's soooo worth it
    Mike,

Thanks very much for your input and suggestions. I am not going with my dad to Saudi Arabia, and that was one of my concerns with the whole idea. I'm sure I can get all my measurements taken and then send them to my dad, but my suspicion is that every tailor uses a different set of guidlines etc to cut the fabric.

Damn maybe I will have to go visit him haha! A man in a properly fitting suit generally has his foot in whatever door he is trying to open before he even speaks a word.

To a certain extent, a tailor can alter a cut to a good degree. Unless you are present for the fitting, buy a suit elsewhere and have it tailored to you.

    Single breasted two button.

If your not sure exactly of that look, check out photos of Frank Sinatra or Cary Grant, they are the guys you want to emulate, a timeless, classic look thats always stylish.

Single breasted 3-button with a modern Euro cut for me- just copped a couple new Prada suits at Saks last weekend.

And I think your body "type" really determines how many buttons you should get (2 vs 3)..
