I only have two recommendations ......... one food related one site related.

    1. For one of the best pieces of lasagna you will ever have go to a place on Via Labicana on the east side of the Colliseo. immediately after you cross the street from the Colliseo on the right hand side you will see a few sidewalk cafes. The second one down is the one you are looking for I can't remember the name for the life of me but I will never forget how good the lasagna was ....... and it was $6!!! unreal! Also there is a little store about two doors down further up the alley that has a store that sells charcoal drawings from a local roman artist for dirt cheap i'm talking $15 a piece. I have several of them in my house. Great memories from my trip.

    2. Go to San Ignazio de Loyola. It is close to Trevi Fountain and I walked past it two days in a row without stopping it. The final day I went and I will tell you this ... I saw just about every major site in Rome and then some. The ceiling murals in this place are absolutely breathtaking I'm not sure I will ever see anything like it in my life again to be honest. It was that impressive. Buy the Michelin guide if you haven't done so already it was a priceless tool in my expereince.

One more side note. If you are there on a Wednesday be sure to go to Vatican city the pope does his daily mass outside on Wednesdays.

Enjoy .......... get ready to walk your ass off.

Pantheon, Col., Vatican City, Bourghese, Catacombs. That should do it, i was in italy for 2 weeks.

Not to spoil the mood, but the food in Rome was great, dont get my wrong, but the worst food in comparison to food i had in the other 8 cities.

I did two weeks in Italy as well. The food in Rome was nowhere near the best. But that single piece of Lasagna was and it was just some sidewalk cafe. I could start a whole nother thread on good food in Italy.

    bmoors-
Can you recommend any other food places to eat in Rome. I have just booked my trip and have been searching the web for some good places to eat! I am so stoked about this trip! I have put in my reservation for tickets to see the Pope in the Papal Audience (can you take pictures while there?). I will be there 5 nights but feel this will be like Paris and there will be too much to see/do in the short time period!

I think we are here to achieve something. It's one life.
Whatever you do, keep yourself and people around you happy.
Even if you can't help them, don't harm them. I think that is pretty much life. Keep going, don't stand.
You got nothing to lose. Keep going, it's life.

I think you'll be fine having 5 nights. I got in almost everything I wanted to see in two days. I walked over 20 miles I would guess. Buy the Michelin Guide now!!! The one place i'd recommend to eat is the place I listed above simple but to me that is what its all about. I didn't get to eat at too many nice places in Rome I was typically exhausted by the end of the day and just stuck with various cafe's on the Piazza's. The food in Milan is a whole different story. Best meal i've ever had was in Milan. Italy is heaven.
