Secure, not sure yet where we are staying, we are pretty game for anything. The race is at Fair Park it that helps.

Have stayed at Adolphus Hotel- beautiful and great deals- the luxury suites were sold out but we were extremely happy with the junior suite! Dallas Hotels - The Adolphus - Luxury Hotel in Downtown Dallas, Texas (TX)

Also check out Hotel Zaza- supposed to have a great night life but I have not been yet. Uptown Dallas Texas Hotels & Suites | Hotel ZaZa Dallas | Luxury Boutique Hotels Dallas TX

I would stick with Either Ritz Carlton, Hotel ZAZA, or W Victory.

I'd also like to throw my 2 cents in...

In terms of hotels I would recommend Hotel ZaZa, The Joule Hotel in Downtown Dallas, The W Hotel, or the Ritz Carlton. ZaZa is much trendier and is a boutique hotel located in uptown Dallas. The night life scene there is pretty good. W Hotel is nice but the scene can be a bit hit or miss depending upon if there's an event going on at the American Airlines Center next door or not. The Joule is the newest hotel of the 4 I mentioned and it is also a very trendy nightspot. This is the hotel (PM Nightlife Lounge) where Adam "Pacman" Jones of the Cowboys got into a fight with his own bodyguard. The Ritz is a Ritz, it's nice and beautiful and kind of stuffy. The Rattlesnake bar at the Ritz can be fun though. There are plenty of Cougars out and about on the weekends there if you're into that.

In terms of dining while you're in Dallas here are a few recommendations. If you want high end steak/seafood: 1. Al Biernat's 2. Nick & Sam's 3. Bob's Steak and Chop House 4.Capital Grill 5. Hibiscus 6. N9NE steakhouse
Sushi: 1. Abacus 2. The Fish in West Village 3. Kenichi 4. Gui 5. Sushi Axiom 6. Fuse (located downtown - has a rooftop lounge which is nice to hang out at on weekends if the weather permits).
    Tex-Mex: 1. Javier's (also has a cigar bar) 2. Herrera's (Cheap but good tex-mex) 3.Gloria's (Not really Tex-Mex, but more Latin American I guess) 4. Glass Cactus
Italian: 1. Fedora's (Newer place located in One Arts Plaza near the arts district in downtown Dallas), 2. Taverna 3. Campisi's

Things to do: Well it kind of depends on what you might be interested in. If you're into sports, in April there's the Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Stars who play at the American Airlines Center mentioned earlier. There's also the Texas Rangers who play out in Arlington. I guess as a tourist you can go visit the 6th floor museum in downtown Dallas which is a museum about the events and stories surrounding what happened to JFK when he was assassinated here. There's also the Dallas Museum of Art or my favorite museum in Dallas, The Nasher Sculpture Center, which is right next door to the Dallas Museum of Art. There's also the Dallas symphony and Dallas Opera if you're so inclined.
There's always shopping to be had in Dallas. I recommend going to Northpark Mall or the Galleria if you want to go to a mall. You can also check out West Village for some other stores. You can go downtown to the shop at the original Neiman Marcus.

You can also go to Fort Worth and go to the stockyards or go to Billy Bob's which is a country music venue which is pretty famous. Also in Fort Worth you can check out Sundance square which can be pretty fun.

If you like going out to clubs/lounges I recommend checking out one of these places: Aura, PM Nightlife Lounge at the Joule Hotel, Lotus, Suite, Ghostbar at the W Hotel if there's something happening at the American Airlines Center, or Dragonfly at ZaZa.

    Hope that helps.
