French Wines
What are the best wines from France? Red and White.
I've never really tried too many french wines but I would like to, so I need some recommendations!

I know this sounds ridiculous but try some of the southren german wines first, then move into the French house wines because it gets very complicated when comparing wines from different regions and as you move south peoples true values in a wine change drastically, I have always found that my American friends have enjoyed german wines over "true" traditional french labels. When I get home I will pm you some recommendations if you would like..

I've tried german wine, to me it's just "meh". I also remember drinking french wine a couple times and every time I really really enjoyed it, but I just can't remember what I had drank lol.
Please do send me a PM, that would be appreciated!

you can't ask a question like that - what's your budget? what are your preferences? do you want new or old wines?
the best answer is to buy some, try them, triage, and repeat.
the best french wine i've had ran several thousand euro per bottle - and there are definitely better out there.

Ok ill be more detailed. Nothing too expensive, could be vintage but again nothing hard to find, rare and expensive. Something to drink on a special occasion, and something I can go and buy whenever I feel like it without breaking the bank lol.

If you are looking for wines that won't break the bank, try another region.

I'd suggest going to your local wine specialty shop, such as Total Wine if in your area, and talk to the employees there.
Give them a budget, describe a bit of the flavor/region you're looking for, then have them make you some recommendations. Our wine shop always does sampling on the weekends so that you can try a few wines. But we use their recommendations all the time- they know what people are buying, what wines are getting the best feedback, and what wines they like best. So go strike up a relationship with the manager at your local shop, some of the best wines I've tried were random recommendations from ours. They recognize me when I go in now, and give me further recommendations based on which ones I like from the last set of wines I've bought.
