Do you like Syrah? Try this one...
After this, my 2nd bottle of it, I ordered another case. It's a stupid good deal, folks...you can get a case for $220 delivered.
- 2006 Cabot Vineyards Syrah - USA, California, North Coast, Humboldt County (12/9/2009)
The classic Cabot cured meat/bacon coming through on the nose prominently, with a good dose of violets, which is an aspect I do not recall from other bottles - very rich, meaty nose, with just a touch of heat, barely perceptible. Good substantive mouthfeel - dark fruits, blueberries, smoked meat, soil and rocks - good earthy flavor profile overall, and well balanced. The finish is perhaps most impressive, actually, since it seamlessly flows from the palate to the finish, with just a hint of fine ripe tannic structure, fading to a nice dark fruit profile. A tremendous value. (92 pts.)

Don't make me treat you like Jox.
It's srsly a good Syrah, and the makers are really cool folks - young couple. If you want to order from them, just email them at cabotvin at sisqtel.net - Kimberly and John are the duo running the show.
If I had time to hang more on other forums, I would - too much action, man!L4P Wine Geek - http://www.wineberserkers.com

Their 'Kimberly's' is really good, too - a bit bigger, darker style. All their Syrahs, because they are 'cold climate' are more French than California in style, and that's why I love them - I like the earthiness rather than just a jammy fruit bomb with high alcohol. The Klamath Cuvee is okay for the money, but not worth chasing down. Their Zinfandel is also good, but not noteworthy like their Syrahs. They used to have something they called 'One Barrel' - it was one particular barrel of Kimberly's that was all bacon - smelled like bacon, tasted like it - we named it 'Bacon Fat' on the wine forums, and the name sort of stuck. It's gone, but I have two more bottles of it - very interesting wine.
Aria's is one that others like more than I have, but I have only tasted it once, and it was rather closed up at the time. Haven't had their Cabernet.
The '06 syrahs now are singing - absolutely kick ass.L4P Wine Geek - http://www.wineberserkers.com
