Default Cracked open a bottle I shouldn't have

Wife's upset with me cause I opened a bottle that she's been saving for the last 4 years. I gotta tell you that it was awesome drinking it while watching the Pac-Man fight.

I did this once a couple of years ago, I drank 2 of my dad's $200 bottles, I didn't realize its value since it was in his wine fridge (he never puts his expensive btls in there) I can't remember the name of it...he wasn't upset he was just glad it was me who drank it and not someone else who knows nothing about quality

Actually, the number is 98% of wine in this country is consumed within the first 3 hours of purchase. Amazing, isn't it?

Very few European wines are 'made to drink' in less than three years, that's mostly an American thing, and of those, it's closer to 98%.

There is plenty of enjoyment in many wines both short term and long term - that's why it's fun to get wines that can age, but buy multiple bottles and try one before it shuts down, then experiment with the rest when they start developing secondary characteristics.

agreed...some bottles are meant to hang on to, but others are just too good to wait!
