TN (Tasting Notes) - McPrice Myers 'Beautiful Earth' Central Coast GSM blend
2006. This is a really fantastic central coast winery - impressed thus far with their bottlings, white and red. This particular wine is mostly syrah, with some grenache and mourvedre.
This is a very substantial wine, in color, nose, taste, and even finish. Inky purple in the glass, the nose comes through with rich blackberry jam, lightly spiced, and still a hint of petrol/alcohol, but not terribly offensive. It is rich in the mouth, and has flavors of blackberry, raspberry, leather, and black pepper, and the finish is more of the same with a good 20-30 seconds worth. I much preferred this wine to the Cuvee Kristina of theirs, and would love to swap out some of those bottles for more of these.Last edited by teutonictrio; 06-24-2008 at 05:44 AM.

Oops, added - posted my notes from Cellar Tracker (have you done that yet?) and forgot the year...
Here are my notes on the 2005 McPrice Myers 'Cuvee Kristina', consumed a few weeks before the above bottle:
It is indeed a fruit bomb, and boldly so - rich blackberry and black cherry surrounded by a significant amount of dark chocolate, tar, and graphite on the nose - very strong aromatics. On the palate, it already shows some nice heft in the body, and on the flavor profile, you get bitter forest berries, some rubbing alcohol (ugh), rocky terroir, and a finish that is fruit based, but still bitter, with a bit of apple peel and plum skin. I think this wine needs more time, and in a couple of years, it will be a killer fruit bomb, but still complex. There are tannins that come on late, and dry out your upper gums, so it seems ready for some agingL4P Wine Geek - http://www.wineberserkers.com
