Costco is my nemesis.....
For a wine aficionado like myself, Costco is like a crack dealer. The temptation is always there, it's easily accessible and can make a huge dent financially in your disposable income. I can avoid going into the specialty wine shops locally, but everyone's gotta go to Costco on a regular basis for something. Sure enough every time I go, the cart seems to magnetically be attracted to the wine section.
Thankfully, the Costco that's five minutes from me doesn't have a serious wine selection, so resisting temptation is easier. However, certain other Costcos in the area have a much larger wine selection, with bottles from producers that are hard for me to resist. Here's pics of a $2K++ wine buy from the Novato Costco......

2005 Chateau Mouton Rothschild

2005 Chateau Palmer

Aberfeldy 21 year old Single Malt

Various 2005 Bordeaux (classified 3rd growths & 4th growth along with a Grand Cru St. Emilion)

The everyday stuff that I adore

2007 Mollydooker The Boxer shiraz
When I'm not here, I'm slinging IT infrastructure or gone golfing

Holy crap. What an awesome collection to come home with, let alone from COSTCO! :applaus:
Come live in Utah. NO TEMPTATION at all at Costco...
...and grocery stores
...and convenience stores...
...and, oh hell, don't get me started lol

Funny, was just talking about Utah with a co-worker and a vendor over lunch yesterday. I've never visited, but they were telling me some of the goofy stuff that you endure to get an alcoholic beverage (or not) in Utah. I never knew that if you ordered a double of alcohol, they'll bring you two single servings of it......

The one I went to (Novato) is literallly the next town over from Sonoma & Napa. I met the guy who manages the wine section there, and he makes sure that he gets as much of the good stuff in his store. He knows it will sell, and he actually has an email list to announce when good stuff is about to come in.
The Costco in Eugene, OR had a lot of OR and WA producers that we don't see in CA. What was weird was that the Costco in Maui has a pretty good selection of vino from CA, WA & OR as well as Australia.
It doesn't show up often. I've been lucky enough to get The Boxer and Two Left Feet at some different Costcos. When I'm not here, I'm slinging IT infrastructure or gone golfing

off topic, but the C also has some sick prime beef at 8.99 a pound. makes you rethink dropping 45 bucks on a 16 oz NY Strip like I just did tonight at III Forks
