I hate getting something new and it just sucks. I dumped a bottle this week after half a glass. It was given to me though so it wasn't that surprising. Thanks for the heads up on the shit wine.

    Thanks for the heads up
It is vital that we work to a few golden rules. Always work in a small team. Keep a very low profile. Only deal with people who come recommended. And it's like selling anything else: washing machines, hand made shoes, blowjobs. As long as you don't take the piss people will always come back for more. And that is not to say we don't have that special kind of magic that makes two kilos into three. But never be too greedy.

Costco is usually pretty good about stocking decent wine but this time they let me down.
It has now been reduced to cooking wine.

Check and see if your Costco carries the 2005 Venta Mazzaron Tempranillo (here's what the label looks like, no difference in look between the 2003 and 2005):

It's less than $12 a bottle, and it's a great everyday wine. Parker rated the 2005 90 points, and I think he was spot on with the assessment. I have a few cases in the cellar b/c my wife loves it.

If it will make you feel better, with CA sales tax it comes out to almost $13 a bottle here.....

I forget that there may be regional variation in pricing from Costco. I bought some Ducru Beaucaillou from the Costco in Eugene when I was in Oregon a couple months ago, and even with no sales tax in that state, it was cheaper for me to buy it here in the SF Bay Area even after CA sales tax was assessed.
