    Default wheel modification possible?

I had a set of 19" staggered wheels in the garage from a 1998 sl500, i tried putting them on my 2010 c300 and they fit and look awsome. the rears do stick out about 1/4" farther than i had hoped, is it possible and safe to trim the inside hub of the wheel so they sit more flush with the fender? and does anyone know of a place that does this? i am located in upstate ny. thanks

You can USUALLY shave down the backpad 3-5mm MAX on a set of wheels

you have to make sure that after you machine down the back pad, there's still enough length in the "shank" part of the mounting bolt hole for the bolt to not pull through. the person machining the wheel should be able to measure and tell you what the max safe machining amount will be (and like dride says, it usually is just a few mm on most modern wheels). in most cases, you can also machine a few mm off the top hat of your brake rotor to give yourself another few mm, but this would depend on the brakes on your car. Again, you could have the wheel shop check this and let you know if it's a viable solution if machining the wheels alone is not enough..

Don't risk making a mistake and having unsafe wheels! Sell your wheels and buy a new set.

I second that, or at least buy new outer lips if they are multi piece.
