    Default Help Needed

I am taking apart my Radenergie R10 wheels and I'm having a problem getting the face apart from the barrel. All the bolts are out, the tire is still on but no air is in it. I smacked the face with a light weight rubber mallet but it did not budge at all. I need some knowledge on this please.

I would recommend taking the tire off the rim, it is probably adding pressure to it which is holding it in place. Also the spoke are pressed into the barrel, so it is a snug fit and you will probably have to get them pressed out. Why are you taking apart your rims?

I am stripping the chrome to have them painted black. I did one of the rear wheels the same way and the face just came right out, air still in the tire and no problems. It can't be that much difference between the front and rear wheel assembly.

Awesome. Nothing that a little force won't fix are you painting or powder coating? I would recommend powder coating cause it won't chip as easily over time.

I looked into powder coating, and in the DC metro area it is not too many places that can do it at a reasonable rate. One shop I talked to wanted the wheels taken apart already and they still wanted to charge me $200 per wheel. DC is a blackhole when it comes to anything industrial. If you do find a good shop you have to go out of the way to get to it and they will charge you a premium price, if you find a local shop its almost like going to a neighbor's garage, good price shitty work. I'm better off doing it myself.

Dang that sucks. There is a shop down the street from me in CO that does $75 a rim w/ lifetime repair on them, so yea $200 a rim is pricy.

Damn.. ain't that a b!tch you can't get anything in DC done for that price unless you house paint and artwork clear coat.
