The good thing is that this event was announced for this year(2012), here is a link from the post for the 1-1-2011
Tour-d-Orange that I bumped into last year:

    8th Annual Tour d'Orange -- Orange County, CA -- January 1, 2011 - The Saleen Forums at soec.org

    The 8th Annual Tour d'Orange
Now a Southern California tradition for many and arguably the first car event of the New Year.
Meet at the corner of Fischer and Redhill in Costa Mesa. This is near John Wayne/Orange County Airport, South of I-405 and East of the 55 freeway, arrive by 8:00 AM, maps at 8:45 AM, DEPART AT 9 AM. The route will take approximately 2 hours and terminate at the In N Out Burger at "The District" in Tustin.
    All cars welcome.

I arrived at approximately 0730 on the last run and most of the 300+ cars had been there since sun up, so I'm rolling out at 0-dark-30.
Take care and have a great holiday.

Sounds like fun.... but also requires some determination to get up that early on New Year's day... hmmm. I'll pencil it into my calendar.
