Bay Area traffic question to figure out route...
I'll be travelling quite often from San Luis Obispo to Santa Rosa. My nav and Google maps makes me take the 101 to the 880 through Oakland, back to the 101.
An alternate route is 101, 280, 101, or 101 all the way, going through SF/Daly City.
Is there a known less traveled route that is noticeably faster, or am I looking at the same travel time either way?
Thanks ahead for the local tips!I drive a station wagon.

101 all the way, detour as needed depending on traffic.

I'd say 101-280-101, just because i LOVE driving on 280. Best freeway ever.

It depends on what time you are driving through. If it is btwn 10am-2pm then 101 will be fine.

^this, 101 will be murder at commute times.
If you're heading NB during evening commute times, I would go 101-85 (cuts the southern corner between 101/280) -280-101, SB though avoid 85 during evening commute times...
Its prolly a bit like LA though, everyone has they're own little ways around traffic

101 to 85
* exit freeway to bring me coffee at Apple *
85 to 280
Exit 19th Ave and take through GG Park, Presidio, and SF to GG Bridge
101 to Santa Rosa
19th Ave is a quicker way across SF IMO, and 280 is a beautiful stretch of road. 101 is filled with potholes and traffic. I avoid it at all costs.Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves. ~ Albert Einstein

Holy shit, no matter what you do, don't go through S.F. at any time of day.
Also, a rule of thumb: 80 is always packed between when 580 becomes 80, and el sobrante.

we would need to know exact times to give you any solid answer - traffic patterns can be strange. i would guess going through city is fastest usually

lol damn this is getting scientific lol. Well let's see, how about around afternoon/late afternoon, ie, rush hour? I'm screwed? How about the same time frame on weekends?
