Thread: Premier's Diamond Cut IR Tint Installed w/ Pics

Here are some shots of our new Diamond Cut IR film applied to the windows of a E90 M3 at 32% VLT (visible light transmission). We are using a E92 M3 with clear glass to give an accurate assessment of how well our tint compares



Clear Glass - in 2 minutes time, the surface temperature of the rear deck registers at 114 degrees



Diamond Cut IR Tint - in 2 minutes 44 seconds, the surface temperature registers at 102 degrees (a 12 degree difference in just 2.5 minutes)

Clear Glass - 9 minutes 14 seconds rear decklid temperature rises to 150 degrees

Diamond Cut IR Tinted - 10 minutes 11 seconds, rear deck lid temperate is at 114 degrees (36 degree difference in surface temperature)

looks good! How much are these roughly to do a 2 door coupe?

Have you tested any of the super dark stuff? ~5% ish? Does it make a measurable difference, or does the black counteract the effect?

We certainly have. We just placed our Diamond Cut IR 62% up against a 5% limo tint. Some of our techs believed the film at 62% cannot stack up to a limo shade, but they were wrong!

You will notice that the limo blocks off much of heat lamp light transmission compared to the 62% tint, yet the heat reduced dramatically over the 5% limo tint

The BTU meter measures amount of solar energy or heat transfer through the object.

Just to answer a few of the commonly asked questions:

1. Which manufacturer makes it? We sourced a manufacturer to produce this product for us to our specs. This product is availalbe only through Premier
2. I am in Southern California, can I have this done? Yes, but it is limited because this film installs very differently compared to regular tint, so only our master installer can perform this work. He is mainly only available in our Northern California facility. On some occasions, he may make trips down to Socal for installs, but this will be limited.
3. How much UV does it block? 99.5%
4. What shades do you have? 72%, 62% and 32%
