Default Living in California, Southern California

The member below saw my thread in the MBZ forum and had Southern California questions. I'm sure you other SoCal folks can chime in too.

I ask b/c my wife and I are faced with the dilemma of where I should go to get my MBA. We are both from the SE and currently live in Atlanta. I've been accepted to both Duke and UCLA with partial scholarships to both. They are essentially peer schools that just feed to different coasts. We loved S Cal on our visit but it (CA in general) is shockingly expensive compared to the alternative. Trying to decide if it makes sense on a "student's" budget. Also, UCLA feeds to LA and SF so we would most likely be there for a while after school. She's from West Palm Beach, so the beach is appealing. Decisions, decisions...
I do indeed split my time up and down the coast.
I was born and raised in NorCal. Southern California right now is more conducive to my lifestyle.

I really don't need to go over the plus and minuses California most of them you already know.

I took this picture of the trip computer in my Mercedes to sum up living in (Beverly Hills at the time) Southern California. This picture shows a 4 mile drive at 10:30AM on an October weekday from Beverly Hills to my gym the Westwood Equinox (which is by UCLA).

    Points to note:
1/2 hr to do 4 miles!!!!!
    79 degrees in October!

A bunch of gas powered italian, german, japanese, and american things with four wheels. On order is a bunch of the same, and previously I had a bunch of the same. Oh and I fly, tool around on boats, and have been known to ride motorcycles.

^yes...having a prius itself helps...but you have people tryna run you off the road 24/7 even if you are doing 10 above the speed limit

they have a perception that even if your driving fast you r still going too slow cus u r in a prius

sometimes i really slow down if fornt of them just to piss people off hahahahaha

    brake check homie!!!!

There are so many people in SoCal with the stickers that the HOV lanes are just as backed up as the regular lanes, sometimes even worse.

I've lived in south OC and now the Bay Area and love both. For me, I like the Bay Area more since we have MUCH better racetracks up here I'll take a place in SF and one in Laguna Niguel to cover where I go in CA.
