Default Its all about who you know...

Before I start, I'd like to say I am not on here to look for any sympathy or have anyone feel sorry for me. I am only doing this because I am in need of some serious help and have nowhere else to go, and I know the L4P family has endless connections. Long story short, I am a 21 year old who has had always wanted to get into law enforcement. I planned on enlisting into the military within the next few months. After that I wanted to pursue my dream of the LAPD. In 2009 I had knee surgery for a torn ACL and a torn Meniscus. Today I re-tore the same ACL. Problem is this time, I have no health insurance, and I have not been able to find work since getting laid off from my position at Uhaul in November 2011. With a torn ACL, I will not be able to enlist into the military. I am coming to anyone who has any connections or knows of any jobs hiring. I live in the Rancho Cucamonga area, and I am willing to travel if necessary. I am willing to try anything. I really don't have any options, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I apologize for not putting this in the "off topic" section, but I wanted mostly people in SoCal to see this. Feel free to email me or comment on here with any help or information. Thank you, Anthony.

    sell your M3 and S550?

also, just out of curiosity because i am not familiar with injuries, are you currently walking around with a torn ACL? is that possible? isn't treatment needed right away, sort of like a broken bone? or is it an injury that can eventually be treated but not life threatening?

with 13 posts i highly doubt you will luck out and find a high-paying/easy job - which i figure is why you decided to post on here vs. going the traditional route of finding a job. your post on here will probably be about as helpful as posting it on craigslist, especially with no description of your background, skills, education, etc. - if you have something special to offer, thats when 'its all about who you know' comes into play...

in any case, good luck. im not trying to be an asshole, this just doesn't make much sense to me.

Starbucks has really good insurance. Get a job there...work till you can heal...then sign up for the military again. Problem solved.

That's actually a really good idea. Also I know radio shack has good insurance ( my gf is a manager there ) use the insurance to heal and go inlist into the military just like Saint said.

With a history of ACL injury you MAY be disqualified from some jobs or not be able to enlist at all...do your research and plan accordingly. Oh yeah, recruiters will sometime forget to mention medical waiver.

Yeah, before you go trying to find a job to pay for your medical, you should talk to a recruiter about joining with that injury.

I'm letting you know this now, since all the budget cuts have been happening and since the pull out of Afghanistan, there have been and is a draw down of troops. That means that since they are trying to cut down on military personnel they are only looking for the highly qualified. Waivers are going to be looked down upon.

I suggest you ask recruiters first before wasting a lot of your time. That way, you'll at least know what you are headed towards in your end goal, to make your path more clear.

    Good luck on your search!
