Default Golf Trip to Palm Springs

So an old buddy of mine from high school and 8 other guys are taking a golf trip out to Palm Springs. We will be staying in a house somewhere around the North side of Palm Springs I'm told. All I know it that it is about 1.5 miles from downtown. I know nothing about the area, nor does anyone else going it appears. Does anyone have any good restaurant or nightlife suggestions for us? "Adult" nightlife may be considered. Our golf is already set up. The reason I say dinner and nightlife is because we are playing 2 rounds Friday and Saturday and 1 Sunday before heading back to LA, where I'll leave from the next day. That schedule won't allow for much else during the day. If it matters, the trip happens to fall on Cinco de Mayo weekend.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I have lived in the valley for several years, here's some insight from a young professional:

Palm Springs proper is older and is pretty hit or miss. North Palm Springs can be a bit sketchy despite the reputation for being a resort town. There is a large gay community in Palm Springs, so if that isn't your scene be cognizant of the atmosphere of the bar/restaurant you choose.

The El Paseo area in Palm Desert is very nice and upscale. Lots of restaurants and shopping can be had. "Pacifica" is a nice seafood restaurant there but the best part about it is their vodka bar with many options to choose from and a nice atmosphere (pricey though). Rancho Mirage also has an area called The River which has your standard issue Yard House, PF Changs, etc. The restaurant Acqua Pazza has a pretty nice day long happy hour with good food and drink specials. As far as night life goes, there isn't much outside of the clubs in the hotels/casinos. The Hyatt in Indian Wells has a really nice club. The valley's demographic is older so a lot of things die after 8PM.

Let me know if you have more questions on anything in particular. Enjoy the desert, its beautiful here, bring plenty of sunscreen.

Thanks for the tips, I appreciate it. I am actually on the plane right now heading over there. In Flight Wi-Fi FTW!
