Default Please help me pick out my next watch...recommendations please!

I just started looking, but I know what I want in terms of look. I would like to get a round/ classic (40mm-45mm) watch with a brown alligator strap. I would like to keep it under $2k, but if I fall in love with it, then I'd consider spending a tad more.

Here are a few that I have been looking at. Who else makes a watch in this price-range with this kind of look? Recommendations please.

Like the style of the #1 Longines the best followed by the #4 Hamilton. But also let me say that 5mm is a substantial difference in watches, especially with regard to these.

My preferences are 5, 4, then 1. All classic chronographs...

Are you tied to new, because I picked up a gently used Tag Carrera chrono for $2k and retail is close to $4k. Of course then my wife hijacked it...

I love big watches, but my wrist is pretty small. My Breitling Bentley is 48mm, but is just too thick (17mm maybe?) to wear all of the time. Some of my dress shirts don't even fit over it.

I want something still big, but not too big, if that makes any sense.

Nope, not tied to new at all, and was just telling the wife we should go look at some pre-owned watches. I'm not even tied to the ones on my list, and open to suggestions.

Nice looking selection already! Here are a couple others off the top of my head that also fit your criteria.

    - Stowa Chrono 1938 (Available in both black and creme dials.)

    - Stowa Marine Automatic (Available in both polished and brushed cases.)

    - Stowa Marine Original (Available in both polished and brushed cases.)

    - NOMOS-Glashütte Club Automat Datum Dunkel (Doesn't come with a brown gator strap, but it does come with a very nice shell-cordovan strap. Plus, straps can always be bought non-OEM. )

I've seen some for mid $2k's used, but perhaps if you know a REALLY friendly dealer/sponsor, ahem Fear, they might be able to get somewhere close to $2k. And I forgot all about Stowa, that white face with the seconds subdial is gorgeous. What's the mm width? I thought about the Nomos, but i thought it might be too small looking. It seemed smaller than its size when I tried one on.

Nice choices. I hope you are providing links just to show the specs, cause you could do better in terms of prices since you would consider pre owned.
