Tag Hauer Carrera Calibre 16 Day Date
Hey,
So i am about to buy my first expensive watch and got stuck on this watch.
In my eye's it looks stunning so just wanted to see what people thought about it.
This will be my daily beater so will be used alot.
Anyone have anything bad / good to say about this one or Tag's in general?
Do they loose alot of value?
Not superimportant just good to be able to sell it in the future if needed.
The modelnr is CV2A11.FC6235
Cheers

Buy what you like, and will enjoy wearing. There is a reason this has caught your eye. As for losing value, unfortunately Tag does not retain value as well as some other brands.

Have to start my collection somewhere and this seems like a decent place too start

Just wanted to know if someone had something bad to say about TAG, bad experiences etc.

I have loved all the Tags I've owned.
Actually it's the first time in a while I haven't had one. I think I will pick up a Monaco sometime within the next 24 months.
Anyways, I personally do love Tags. A lot will say they are a dime a dozen (which they are) and tasteless (which they are not IMO) but they make a great timepiece.
Just don't overpay for one, deals can always be had. And like porshah mentioned, they don't retain their value very well.
Congrats on the upcoming acquisition

The offer i have now is 27.500 SEK (About 4.1k USD) for a brand new one.
Then i read a thread today and saw the Hamilton Big Khaki Pilot 46mm Auto and fell in love all over again!
So will probably but the Hamilton first and then later acuire the TAG
Pretty much got my next 4 watches in my head, but will take some years to scramble the money for all of them.
Will be fun to start a collection!
Edit: I live in Sweden aswell so we have 30% VAT to pay :/

Tags are my favorite affordable watch. That one you're looking at is incredible. I started my collection with a Link that I paid about $1500 for. I still wear it every day.

the recommended price in sweden is at 33k for one of those. are you buying it from uret.se? i have the CAV511A.BA0902 and i absolutely love it. my tip is to get one if you are on holiday anywhere. as they are cheaper outside of the nordic region.
Lycka till med köpet

Personally I like TAGs but there are a lot of TAG haters in the watch world... might have something to do with their over marketing. IMHO, I think their quality and build is fantastic and I've never had a problem with any of mine. As mentioned already, do not pay retail for it... The two I currently own I've purchased through LVMH directly during their Friends and Family sale and was able to save 35-40% on them

I love TAGs. Had a gc calibre 17rs. My swag was on a hundred thousand trillion.
