Default Panerai Identification & starter pam question

    Hi,

I'm 100% new to the watch scene. I haven't even worn a watch in the past 15 or so years, my last watch was a casio digital

For the past year or so I've been infatuated with the look of a panerai.

Looking to spend about 5k and I'd like a new watch

I do have some concerns though. Are these watches really as thick as they look ? I'm really interested in one of the two in the picture I'm attaching. The one on the right looks a little thinner, can anyone identify what it is ? PAM 112 ?

    Sorry for the rambling post...

    thanks

Both of those Panerais are PAM112s. The one of the left looks to be the current PAM112 with the sandwich dial and the one of the right is an older generation PAM112 with a painted dial.

    Those measure ~15-16mm thick IIRC.

They are not that thick. I never have a problem fitting it under my shirt cuff and its a perfect watch to dress up or down.

thanks a lot guys, I guess the 112 is the way to go.

Is there a preferred dealer that you guys use ? How much is the typical amount off of msrp ?

Geoff is not an authorized dealer for new...yet

Go pre-owned, check out Risti, TZ and WUS for preowned, watchrecon is good as well because it crawls many for sale sites.

    thanks again for the help.

the only problem with pre-owned is that the price difference is only approx 4-700 between new and preowned from what i've noticed on ebay. I figure i might as well buy new. Is that the general consensus or am I looking in the wrong places : ) ?
