Apparently Helson and Benarus got scammed by their case manufacturer; the alloy that actually shipped was not the alloy they requested, nor the alloy shown on verification docs. Olivier has preemptively responded, assuring potential customers that his alloy will indeed be the German CuSn8.

Emails and other forums. Both Helson and Benarus have issued recalls via emails to owners and announcements on forums for some of their Bronze Shark Divers and Bronze Morays.
Roland posted yesterday following these recall announcements:
Hey Everyone! Im going to be posting this around on the various Olivier Threads out there, so if you start to experience deja vu, dont worry!
Yesterday there was a recall announced for Helson bronze cases and Benarus is currently planning to announce the same for some of their bronze morays. The bronze alloy they had received from the manufacturer was NOT the CuSn8 they had been told and they are doing great things to take care of their customers, hats off to them and their great CS. I just want to assure everyone here that we are NOT in the same situation, our cases are CuSn8, german made and looks exactly how you would expect CuSn8 to look, and age. I have now sourced CuSn8 from both Germany and from here locally in Redondo Beach where I have my buckles made, and they both look the same; they start as a bright gold tone that darkens and patinas into a very nice darker brown. This is exactly how the bronze PAM 382 also appears [some of these photos belong to great WIS PifPaf!], and well as Paiste cymbals, both known to be made from CuSn8 bronze, attached here are some pictures of new and old CuSn8.

Very similar look to the Benarus I wear. I have the Moray, and my dad has the bronze Moray.

Wow crazy to hear about helson and benarus! Glad they are both doing the right thing and taking care of people. I wonder if any other brands were effected.

I'm pretty sure Magrette will be in the same shoes soon.
I had my doubts about Magrette's claims that their Regattare Bronze was indeed CuSn8 after having seen photos of the Regattare Bronze next to the PAM 382, which is also made from CuSn8 bronze, and photos of people using Brasso and similar other compounds to polish their Regattare Bronze to a suspiciously yellow-ish 'brass' looking shine. Following the recall announcements by Helson and Benarus, Dion @ Magrette has sent a sample of their 'CuSn8 bronze' to an independent lab for testing, so we should know the truth fairly soon.- Andrew
