    Richard Mille RM 56 Felipe Massa SAPPHIRE with manual-wind tourbillon movement — completely encased in sapphire crystal. Side note: Unless I am overlooking a precedent, I think big credit is due to Maximillian Busser @MB&F who I think was the first to do a 100% sapphire case on a watch (the HM-2 SV). This seems to have spawned big advances on machining/sculpting capability for sapphire crystal because this Mille piece must be an absolutely crazy nightmare to produce, let alone handle! Mille says it takes 1,000 hours to machine the case — another 430 hours to grind and 350 to finally finish!!!

    I keep looking at it thinking it has to be some type of polycarbonate plexiglass nonsense but that thing is all Saphire Crystal. Just plain Nutz!

    This is one of those watches I want to see photographed in its element, out of a studio. I bet it's crazy looking in person.

    Although I am somewhat disappointed, they kind of copped out on the all sapphire bracelet.
