Panerai 380; God, I love that piece. I know it is going well below retail right now but I still love it.

I agree but Bell and Ross does make a round face dressy watch..

Or get the square face like this one and change the band to leather or any other dead animal...

For under 5 I'd hit up a used base Panerai or specifically the PAM380. The new B&R's are cool and I like the WW1-90 or 97. My main complaint is the band on those new vintage B&Rs. The 03-92 is one my favorites as well and has been strong arm robbed from me.

I'd look at some used watches first and see what you can find. You might get more than expected for 5k. Most and I will say just buy the seller as well as the watch.

FEAR has a very large used inventory and can get what you want just about always.

What size (dia.) are you looking for? Since you mentioned the B&R WW1 collection, around 45mm?

If you'd entertain a smaller watch (which, depending on wrist size, slightly smaller is the way to go with dress watches), I've always really liked the super clean, elegant designs from NOMOS.

This is the NOMOS Club Automat Datum Dunkel... one of my favorites. It can be had for ~$2.5k new.
