Volta Watch Winders
I am in talks right now with this fairly new brand, which offers watch winders.
These are not cheap at all. Pricing on these start at $295 and go up to $9995.00.
Is this something any of you would be interested in?

Competing with Orbita at that price range. Convince me to buy one of these over an Orbita.

Here are the specs for their most basic winder. Details: This Volta single watch winder features a high gloss black finish with a black leather interior and is part of the Moderna Collection. The inside portion of this winder is lit by a white LED light that beautifully showcases the watch that is mounted onto the winder. This winder can be locked using the supplied key to ensure the safety of your prized possessions. The watch mount is powered by its own high quality and ultra quiet Japanese Mabuchi motor. The winder is powered by a supplied 110/240v adapter. To control the motor of the winder, you will find an LCD screen on the top of the winder. Using the buttons to the right of the screen, you can control the revolution direction and the speed (TPD) of the winder. You are able to select a clockwise setting, a counterclockwise setting, or a combination of clockwise and counterclockwise revolutions. With this Volta winder, you are able to select a speed (TPD) setting of 650, 900, 1350, or 1800 revoltions, so you will definitely be able to find the right setting for your specific watch. Each winder has its own serial number and can be registered online at Volta Winders
This model retails for $295 which is $200 less than a Orbita Bellino for example.

This is not your average stripped down watch winder. Not that an Orbita is as I think most know they are a great brand. It's my belief when you look at the quality of the materials and the features of the Volta winders. This brand is as good or better as any at the same price point.Last edited by Thomas Carey; 01-06-2012 at 11:05 PM.

The Orbita is I-talian leather. This one here is I-talian plastic. Orbita uses the finest motor designs stolen from the german winder companies. This one here uses a mitsubishi motor.

Yes and the Orbita costs more. So we are really not comparing two winders at the same price correct?

Just pointing out a couple of the differences, for $120 more or so you get the Orbita.

Nahh....I'm well aware there has to be a winder for different watch price points. Person with a $200-$300-$600 automatic watch needs a winder priced accordingly. The higher end the watch is, the more the guy may be willing/wanting to spend on a winder.
Now, on a separate note, i'm not sure this is a good winder for CGA considering most of his watches are priced at less than the cost of these winders. They do not appear in line with most of his his current product line-up. imo, but then again whatta i know.

I really like there designs, refreshingly different and bit more stylish than Wolf for example. The brand price point wise seems to be more comparable to Wolf, might be a better example than Orbita. The carbon fiber looks REALLY nice on the single for $295 and is more in line with the Viceroy at $299 from Wolf. Given the two I like the Volta better aesthetically, but Wolf's inter locking cushion wins the day, keeping smaller or heavier watches from falling out. I am a sucker for looks though, so it is a tie for me. Volta gets locking cushions, then it is a no brainer.

You aren't really comparing it to an Orbita spec for spec either. You chose an Orbita that is trimmed out much nicer than the Volta. The Sparta, although open, line may be more comparable. These can be bought from AD's for about 30 dollars more than this. Maybe the VOlta can be discounted as well? Again, I don't know. Also, the key lock "protecting prized possessions" is about as stupid as it sounds. It is not a safe.
I dunno. You asked for opinions. That's mine.Un-Retired
