Pulled the trigger on Tourneau
Hey guys, some of you may know that I've been blabbing about the new line of Tourneau TNY watches lately. I've been thinking about getting one of these things ever since I first saw them in one of their NYC stores a few months ago. I realize that Tourneau watches don't have much resale value, but that doesn't really bother me.
Well, on Friday, I was in Philly and went out the King of Prussia mall, and hit the Tourneau store there. I was chatting with one of the sales guys (Aaron), and showing him my JS Watch Islandus (LOVE that watch, with the Icelandic date wheel). Anyway, as I was about to leave, I just said to him, "You know, I think the new TNY watches are really great, especially compared to your previous line, and I'm THIS CLOSE to buying one." Aaron says "How close? If we dropped the price by 25%, would that do it for you?" I'd spoken with a few reps in a few Tourneau stores, and they all said that they COULD NOT discount them at all. But apparently, that morning, word came down that they could offer a "Friends and Family" discount to goose sales a little before Christmas. That was enough for me to pull out the figurative credit card. I have 18 months same as cash (one of the few times that everyone will agree that using credit for a watch makes sense). AND, they're going to send me a longer strap, when the new ones become available in a few months. The current strap DOES fit me, but I really need a longer one. In the meantime, I'll get an an internationalwatchman.com black shell cordovan with red stitching.
What do you guys think? (yeah, it's a sucky photo, sorry)

yeh man. I am liking this line way better than previous. Plus, if you are a loyal Tourneau guy, then don't they give you the same that you paid for it towards another Tourneau piece? If thats the case, then resale ain't so bad, IMO.

Not quite. They will give you full purchase price back for the watch, if you apply it towards a watch that costs at least 2x as much. And Tourneau typically gives you only one "special gimme." So you can use the same-as-cash financing, if you pay full price. Discount? You have to pay up front. Apply an Amex gift card? Full price. You want to apply the cost of your old Tourneau to a new Rolex? Full price. Etc. One of the reasons I jumped on this was that I could get two special gimmes - the discount and the 18 month financing.

Yea, when I was in vegas at the tourneau store, I looked at a few for my gf. Everyone of them they had there were 50% off. I don't know what was going on but I should have jumped on one for her. They were also offering that buyback deal if she were to ever want to trade it in. I also took the 18 month same as cash financing on my Bell & Ross. I mean, why not.

Yea, to my knowledge they were even doing it on the TNY models. According to them, no one in vegas bought the house brand. I paid full retail for the B&R.
