Panerai is asking if you could take a second to support the Sailing Heals Foundation
With the support of Panerai, and a great Board of Directors, we have helped to found a non-profit organization, Sailing Heals earlier this year, whose mission is to take cancer patients and their caretakers out on the water in beautiful sailing and boating vessels for days of healing and respite. The organization celebrates not only the patient but the caregivers as well. My role is simply as a Founding Sponsor but behind the scenes I'm trying to help them get "wind in their sails" so to speak. Our first healthcare clinical partnership was with the eminent 200-year-old institution Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center (which is affiliated with Dana Farber Cancer Center and many other health-providing institutions) and Officine Panerai, sponsored the first 8-10 patient and doctor/nurse sails and hosted a wonderful kick-off event in Nantucket on Nantucket Lightship, which has offered to be the "official ship's mascot" of Sailing Heals. We have also partnered with Memorial Sloan Kettering and will make new partnerships and host sails in South Florida and the west coast in 2012. The organization is a great way for Panerai to build meaningful relationships in new markets and give back to the communities that host our regattas; in addition to allowing us to generate news and goodwill.
MGHCC hosts an annual fundraiser every year (this year and last year’s gala event hosted by Matt Damon, who’s father is being treated at the Cancer Center for the same type of cancer my dear mother has) and the hospital and their donors honor “one hundred” people or groups that have worked to improve the lives of people who are stricken with cancer or who are in recuperation mode. I had lunch with some of top execs and physicians of MGHCC on Friday and they encouraged me to nominate Sailing Heals to be a one hundred nominee for this year’s event! The deadline for nominations is Dec 31st so they further encouraged me to get a campaign for nominations going right away.
Won’t you please help us achieve this nomination by filling out this simple form on the MGHCC one hundred website? It will just take 2 minutes and in the new year I will send a Sailing Heals bracelet to everyone who writes me back to tell me they filled out the form. Please also feel free to forward to your own friends/family and invite them to nominate Sailing Heals.
All the information you need is below, and I’ve attached the mission statement of Sailing Heals, plus a photo of a patient sail we did on America’s Cup racer Valiant, off the coast of Marblehead this past summer, and of course, a gorgeous photo of Nantucket Lightship at Christmastime, sporting the Sailing Heals burgee.
To nominate Sailing Heals:
1) Go to Honor Your Cancer Hero | The One Hundred: Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center
2) Put in your own contact info
3) For nominee page, since you’re nominating a group and not a person put in Sailing Heals for both Nominee Name and Group
Contact info for nominee:

If you want to attach the Mission Statement above, feel free to, or add a brief descriptive paragraph like mine below...
Sailing Heals is a newly founded non-profit organization, based in Massachusetts, that takes cancer patients and their caretakers out in beautiful sailing and boating vessels for days of healing and respite. The idea is to create memories among patients and celebrate those who are helping them through a difficult time in their lives: parents, children, friends, nurses, doctors, and colleagues. Sailing Heals celebrates the healing powers of the sea and it's the only organizations of it's kind in the US. The organizer's inaugural sail in 2010 was with Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center and the organization continues to coordinate sails for MGHCC patients every sailing season and is expanding to new regions. Sailing Heals and their "Admirable Admirals" who captain each sail demonstrate true endeavors of love and hope and help us all celebrate the big and small joys that can come with every passing day. Nantucket Lightship is the official ship mascot of Sailing Heals.
4) And then email me so I can send you a Sailing Heals bracelet as a Thank You! Please also “Friend” Sailing Heals on Facebook and also visit our website at Welcome! | Sailing Heals to find out more about the organization and perhaps even make a donation or get your company involved to sponsor a future patient/caretaker sail.
THANK YOU and here’s to a joyful and healthy holiday season for all!
Watches, Cars, Community.......who can ask for anything more? Well, maybe a little DANGER
