Default Putting down the money for a watch.

I FINALLY had a chance to check out some Panerai's in person and all I have to say is wow, these are impressive. I actually started to check out a few different models, but the gentlemen that was helping me showed me his Pam... and I fell in love. I always assumed that the price would be stupid crazy, something wayyyy above my budget like 30 thousand.. the one that I had look at came in around $8300 which was NOT bad, but still expensive. It's a lot of cash to put down or to finance, rather buy in full anyways.

But for putting down big money for these guys, in the end... do you think it's worth it? For the appreciation of these time pieces I feel like in the end it's totally worth it, really want to treat myself to something NICE, but paying as much as I did for a watch that I did for my car is just making my mind twist

    Thanks

Panerai's are amazing... and as much as I love E30s, the watch will outlast your car.

A Luminor Marina is high on my list, just going with something slightly more affordable first.

I sold my e30 for a fraction of what this Pam costs haha, but I picked up a Lexus that's just the same price as the watch.. little more but oh well

First, I would NEVER finance a watch. If you can't afford it outright, you probably should not be buying it. The only exception to this rule are cars and homes imo, or if you are able to make payments interest free. However, If the last option is the case, i still question whether it is the smartest move financially for someone.

Second, you can't go into this thinking of watches as an investment that is going to appreciate. The majority depreciate the minute you buy them, and the one's that do appreciate are not going to be had for $8k.

just my .02. If you have the money and means, and it's really something that you are going to enjoy and brings happiness, go for it.

Never buy a watch with the intention of investment or getting your money back. You should never finance something as extraneous as a watch...that is a horrible idea.

A watch is the quintessential piece of jewelry every man should have and it should express that accordingly. If you really want a watch you should at least know the model number. Especially, if it's going to be your first big buy or in this case cost as much as your car. That's a PAM359, I love mine.

I would never finance a watch the interest cost are going to out weigh the cost of the watch in 6 months.

Like everyone else has already said, I would never finance a watch. That's just poor financial discipline/planning.

Allright, I'll play devils advocate, how about offers of 12 months interest free or 18 months interest free etc. etc. that we sometimes see? (and you will have it payed off in within that time frame)
