Strap Sizing
I've always bought pre made or standard sized straps but most have a little extra than id like beyond the buckle. How do I measure myself for a custom size?

LOL.
What I did was measure the circumference of my wrist at the point that I wear a watch; I gave that number to Rob and he recommended certain dimensions.Un-Retired

Stupid question sounds a lot worse in hindsight

I've found that a cloth tape measure, if you have one, works the best. Otherwise, a string and ruler works just fine.
Once you have your wrist measurement, just give that to the strap maker and mention whatever preferences you may have (in your case, you might want to ask for a shorter tail) and the strap maker will sort out the lengths for you.- Andrew

Yup. All the strap maker needs is your wrist size and tail preference. Some straps that you get need to be one length, where as a thicker strap might need to be a hair longer due to its size. For example, I ordered and received a Wotan strap 130/80 which is perfect length for me. However, due to its extreme thickness, as it curved around my wrist, the circumference was considerably less for a typical 130/80 strap. As a result, it was too short

Get a string or floss and put it around your wrist. Then measure with a ruler how much it is from end to end.

From Rob (strapsmith) website:
To measure: take a flexible tape measure (sewing type) and wrap around your wrist where your watch would go. If you don’t have one of these tape measures you can always do the same with a piece of string and then over lay the length on a tape measure or ruler.
6.0" - 6.5" (15cm - 16.5cm)....= 120/75
6.6" - 6.9" (16.6cm - 17.5cm) = 125/75
7.0" - 7.5" (17.6cm - 19cm)... = 130/80
7.6" - 7.9" (19.1cm - 20cm)... = 135/85
8.0" - 8.5" (20.1cm - 21.5cm) = 140/90
8.6" - 9.0" (21.6cm - 23cm)... = 150/100
See the above for an idea of your size of strap. Note: this is approx. and depends on your preference. Furthermore, if you are a perfect fit on the OEM strap, which is 115/75, you will need to order a little longer as my straps are thicker than OEM and will fit a little shorter
