Default Watch: What if Cool article by www.ablogtoread.com

I just saw this article, and I liked it a lot. I figure you guys would too

this week they did the Rolex Submariner

"Watch What-If" is a special column on aBlogtoRead.com that asks the playful question "what if an iconic watch you know and love was offered in a different style?" The idea embraces a good timepiece's core design and has fun by offering new colors and material concepts to stimulate your senses. These ideas may be provocative, artistic, or just plain silly. This is about fun, Photoshop, and the celebration of wrist watch design and experimentation. The original design we work off will always be at the bottom of the article. Ideas and comments are more than welcome. Enough response may even lead to a round two of design. You are also encouraged to suggest watches that make it into the Watch What-If section here on aBlogtoRead.com.

I like the designs. Big problem is they gotta fix the width of the strap. Too narrow looks like a shoelace holding the watch on. Same thing with the Deepsea, dissproportionate.

Didn't someone here get PVDd Sub? Did he black it out or get accents? I can't remember.

Several have done. Riley PVD'd a anniversary sub; as well as a Milgaus. Not sure about the accents. Sure, this is photoshop, but I love even the yellow accents on the inner bezel where the Rolex haute is.

I feel the same way. What's wrong with 24mm? Would give the watch a much better feel. But it is rolex and they don't seem to like anything big

Whenever I think about that question I can only come up with one reason, and thats that all successfull companies are reluctant to leave/change profitable designs unless they absolutely have to. Rolex is the single most recognizable watch in the world and as such I beleive it holds the strongest buyers market. Meaning people will buy it regardless just because of the name. If it still sells well, why change the formula? the design? anything? But like many better watches, IWC, Blancpain, AP etc. They will have to go big or suffer large market share losses. Rolex is the luckiest because they will be probably the last company that will have to change due to their strong hold. But in the end, even they will have to go big or go home. (and do it right to, not like the deepsea)

They don't need to change, just add some bigger watches to their lineup.
