    Default Breitling polish dilemma...

So this is the watch, its a SuperOcean:

My dilemma is (and you cant really see it in the picture), but the inner chrome ring (between the sapphire and the rubber part of the bezel) is rather scratched up.

My normal run of the mill polisher does not feel comfortable polishing that close to the rubber.

Do you think I would be better off seeing if a AD would polish it? or perhaps call Breitling directly to get a quote from them...

I know there are some guys on here that are ADs, so I was looking to get some insight from them.

    Thanks guys,

    Mike Vera

Cape Code cloth and a toothpick broken in half. Thats what I used on the Breitling SOH which has the same inner ring, but the SOH ring is only about half the width of yours. There is no AR on the outside of the crystal and you won't discolor the bezel unless you sit on it and polish the actual bezel for a while.

An AD might be able to help but best results would probably be Breitling. They might be able to disassemble the bezel and polish it then. Or do what sal said and be very slow and patient with it. Nothing good comes from rushing something.

Make sure you mask off the crystal and the bezel. Then crystal for sure, if you hit that with the cape cod, ur fuckd. You'll take the antireflective coating off.

Pretty sure no AR on the outside of this but I could be wrong. Last watch I had with AR on the outside was the Omega PO and it was a well known issue.

As for taking it in its my experience they have a rate for polishing the whole watch, not just the lugs, or just polishing the bezel nor the inner ring or the whatever, they do the whole thing. So it seems like a waste if your watch does not require a full polish.

    Whatta you think Fear?

    God I love L4P

    Thanks for the responses guys.

If there is indeed AR on the outside of the sapphire, then I think the risk may be too great (based on my skill level in relation to polishing it)

I think breitling service including polishing for a non chrono auto is like $3xx.

FEAR in your experience, do you guys polish in store, or send out?

Breitling has always polished my watches for free. Since the piece is so new I am assuming it is still covered under warranty.

Why not send it back to Breitling?

    Bought it from alanfurman.com

Fantastic company to work with, but the warranty is through them, and as such I can't see Breitling working with me directly for warranty related benefits.

They wouldn't even send me the hat :-/ lol

Is the watch new? If so, a service seems like such a waste, just to get the inner bezel polished. If you got it from an AD I can see them polishing it for free. Warranty? a polish is not part of warranty service. Done in-house or send out, it all depends on the Dealer, some do it in-house and some don't, just depends on your particular AD.

Alanfurman, I see them doing it all in-house or having someone they contract with close by.

You trying to sell it or rock it? If you're gonna wear, beat the piss out of it first. Then send it in for repair. This Breitling needs some signs of abuse. My .02.
