    Another suggestion, would be to check out the "what's on your wrist today?" thread. There are a bunch of super expensive watches on there but also some that will be in your price range. Note a few that you like, or get an idea of the style you want (e.g. sporty, dressy, leather band, rubber band, dive, etc.) and then you can ask more pointed questions of the members. This forum is a wealth of information and a lot of the members are extremely knowledgeable and willing to help!
