Fake.
1. Slate dials only came in SS/18K two-tones
2. Rolex never stamped the back Submariner watches.
3. Crown guards are wrong shape for a Submariner.
4. Submariners only come with PCL in SS/18k two-tone and 18k gold/white gold models.
5. The pearl indicator doesn't fit 'inside' the triangle marker.
6. The model number marked on the back is incorrect for a Submariner.Last edited by CUBIX; 09-06-2011 at 01:40 AM.

even a replica is worth something!
at a minimum one can take it apart and toss a fresh movement in there to get it to run.
since it's already worn out a little vintage homage watch creation with a thick plexi and an aged dial would make it a fun little project.
I love hearing about finds like this... GL to your friend if he ends up playing with it. it's a great opportunity to take something cheap apart and learn about how they work.
