Are PAMs common where you live?
This past weekend when I was in Vegas I saw a lot of PAMs and obviously on this forum and others of a similar nature, PAMs are commonplace. The last 2 years in Chicago I've only seen 2 PAMs when I've been out and about...and a third that was a really shitty fake. Submariners are as common as BMW 3 series here, though. I wonder if it has to do with the fact that all the Panerai dealers in Chicago are horrible or that the Midwest is just generally more conservative with these types of things. What about you guys, is it common to spot Panerai in the wild where you live? I imagine in Cali and Florida they are quite common.

Not many Panerai around here. Think about supply though. Rolex makes MANY more watches each year than Panerai; mostly because of the widespread practice of buying a Rolex for your first gift to yourself as a reward....only a true WIS would buy a Panerai for that very reason. Think about how many AP you see in the wild. Or Urwerk? Or Patek? Sub's are the common everyday watch as well as Day/Dates. Doesn't bother me. I get no "nice watch" looks from passer by's.

I see them all over around my neck of the woods. I also tend to glance at what kind of watch everyone wears whether its a Seiko or an AP, so i probably tend to notice them a lot more. It seems that PAMS have become very popular around here in the last year or so almost to the point where it seems like a fad.

I've seen all of about 2 in he Tampa area myself. I've seen more on a cruise in a week than I've seen in years around here.

This forum has made me notice watches a lot more. I was in Starbucks the other day and saw an old broker I used to do business with. The person he was sitting with had a PAM....he was actually surpised when I said "Nice Pam".
I saw a buddy of mine at the gym two days ago and he was wearing an IWC while working out. We starting talking and I said something about Pams and he replied "I love Pams....I have three of them." Good times. Now I need one.

Nope. My buddies don't even care about my Panerai. As a matter of fact, they call it boring. Moreover, my only buddy with a watch collection says the Panerai is too big and heavy. Blows me away, every time they like my cheaper pieces. Around here if it's not "icey" whether real or not it doesn't get noticed. Guys wear kiosk iced out watches and swear they are cool.
The only sighting I have seen of a Panerai was on a woman at FoGoDeChao. My girl quizzed her about it and it was hers. She was so cool she let my girlfriend put it on. She said that she has been wearing it for 8yrs. I know they are around I just never see them. We have 2 ADs in the city and I bought mine here.

Very common where I live. I see a PAM or a Rolex Sub and/or Daytona on a daily basis. The local Strabucks is where these folks usually congregate. Polacheck's is the AD that made PAM's big in this area.
