Default Trying to Explain the Attraction

I am often asked by family and friends why I like watches so much and I am never really able to clearly define and state the reason for my attraction.
    -
I read this on a forum and thought its the best worded reason so far.
    -
"It is the emotional discovery of the secrets of time, of the very soul of a watch. Watches appeal to us, and win us over by the beauty of their soul and the secrets they conceal: the life of a mechanical watch and of its beating heart; its words; its ticking; and its face, which expresses sadness at 8:20 and joy at 10:10. The relationship we have with a watch is like a love story, and love cannot be described by specific and objective criteria"- Franco Cologni

    Default I'm Chuck & I'm a watchaholic

Tough to explain, love many brands & types of watchs, however watch out, once you start with Panerai & the community, it's much more than a watch.

Here is my newest, sorry for the bad photo

Lightbulb Monday AM Watch Wax Session!

    I agree with ^^ completely.

My take is the artistry and engineering (both sides of the brain) all packed into something so practical yet so unique. Add too that the pile of amazing natural and man made materials used to create them and it is just epic.

I take all that AND add its pragmatism, and I have never looked back.

If you have a son, what is a better heirloom?

What else has so many parts, so much beauty, and is so close to us? Another person.

The appeal of a watch has always been a maturity thing in my mind. With the cell world not wearing watches, there are still people who wear a watch and to me it just shows class no matter what watch. They probably have a cell phone that has the time on it but the watch they are wearing can also tell a little about the wearer as well.

I find myself always looking to see what people are wearing. Not to judge them but just to see a glimpse at their personality. What they wear shows a little bit about who they are.
